THE WOODLANDS, Texas— In a race for the final playoff spot, sophomore Drew Calderon nailed a pull-up jumper at the buzzer as College Park Basketball defeated the Klein Oak Panthers Tuesday night 64-62.

With Cavalier big man Tanner Perry out for the season the Cavaliers, Coach McNeely has turned to a guard heavy rotation. College Park’s young team has handled the adversity well as of late, winning two in a row and nearly taking down undefeated Klein Forest.

College Park picked up right where they left off, hitting 5 three-pointers and holding the Panthers to eight points in the first quarter. With the absence of Perry, the Panthers were able to take advantage of the Cavaliers on the boards in the second quarter. Klein Oak trimmed the Cavalier lead to two points at halftime.

The contest remained that close till the final buzzer. With under two minutes to play the Cavaliers got into foul trouble. Forced to sit senior captain Cameron Noel after his fifth foul, the Cavaliers became even more vulnerable in the paint. College Park committed three straight fouls that gave the Panthers a chance to tie the game late.

With all the injuries and foul trouble, the young Cavaliers stepped up when most needed. Sophomore Drew Calderon drained two jump shots in the final minute, including the game-winner at the buzzer.

The Cavaliers move to 5-7 in district to keep their playoff hopes alive. Our live broadcast was presented by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and replays by Hal Watson Air Conditioning Company.
