TOMBALL, TX -- The Woodlands and Klein Collins went at it for the second day in a row at Tomball Memorial High School in the Area Round of the Playoffs. The Woodlands was a game up after a 5-0 win the night before.

In the first two innings pitchers Brayden Sharp, for The Woodlands, and Mason Lemons with Klein Collins battled it out and retired each side without anyone crossing the plate.

The top of the third was all The Woodlands as they lit up the field with a couple of hits and brought in a couple of base runners. Lemons struggled a bit on the mound for Klein Collins and walked a runner in to give The Woodlands a 3-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Klein Collins would bring in relief pitcher to try to end the game but The Woodlands would have other plans as they brought in an additional three more runs. This would give The Woodlands a comfortable 7-0 lead heading into the final inning.

Klein Collins attempted to chip away at The Woodlands lead but Brayden Sharp quickly closed out the inning and the game. He would go the distance and finish off the game with 13 total strikeouts.

The Woodlands will move on to the Regional Quarterfinals and face Tomball who defeated College Park in their series.

“I’ve heard they are very young and very talented,” said coach Ron Eastmen about the Tomball team.
