THE WOODLANDS, TX – Polls are open today until 7:00 p.m. for local residents to cast their ballots for Montgomery County Sheriff. This special runoff election was called due to none of the three candidates – incumbent Rand Henderson, challenger Wesley Doolittle, and spoiler Kenton Ford – received more than 50 percent of the vote in the primary election on March 5. A matter of just a few dozen ballots separated the two top vote-earners; Henderson received 49.9 percent of the vote, Doolittle just over 46 percent, and Ford with nearly four percent.

Today, precinct polling locations are open to all who are in line to vote by 7:00 o’clock this evening. Early voting, which took place before last weekend over a series of days, marked decent voter turnout, with an average of 500 voters per day. Today, voters must cast their ballot in their assigned precinct location, which can be found in a searchable database at

Additionally, residents of Conroe are preparing to cast their ballots for the city’s mayor and two council positions; none of these three primary elections in March yielded a majority winner. This rare instance of all municipal races going to a runoff came as mayoral candidates Duke Coon and Tom Yancey, Place 1 candidates David Hairel and Susan Johnson, and Place 2 candidates Curt Maddux and Shana Arthur all failed to breach the majority vote..

The Conroe municipal runoff election will take place Saturday, June 15. Early voting will take place June 3 - 7 and June 10 - 11.
