Soccer playoffs: Olmsted goals lift The Woodlands past Klein Collins

SPRING, Texas – Kaleigh Olmsted scored two second-half goals and The Woodlands High School girls’ soccer team defeated the Klein Collins Lady Tigers 2-0 in a bi-district playoff match on Friday at Klein Collins High School.

Join Oak Ridge girls, TWHS boys in area round


Olmsted broke a scoreless battle with an early goal in the second half and then put the match out of reach with a second goal shortly after.

The No. 7 state-ranked Lady Highlanders (19-2-3) advance to the area round of the playoffs where they will take on District 16-5A third-place representative Pflugerville Hendrickson, a 5-0 winner over Austin Lake Travis in its bi-district playoff match.

The Woodlands girls join the Highlanders boys’ team (18-2-3) in the area round. The boys’ squad claimed a 1-0 victory over Klein on Thursday and advance to the area round to meet District 16-5A third-place representative Round Rock, a 2-0 winner over Lake Travis in its bi-district playoff match.

Also advancing to the area round of the playoffs is the Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles (16-4-5), a 1-0 winner at home Thursday over reigning Region II-5A champion Klein Oak. Oak Ridge will face District 16-5A champion Round Rock Cedar Ridge, a 6-1 winner over Austin Bowie in the bi-district round.

Should Oak Ridge and The Woodlands girls’ teams win its respective area round matches, the two would meet each other in a region quarterfinals match on April 8 or 9.

Times, sites and dates for area round playoff matches are to be determined.
