THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Children’s Museum will celebrate Texas Independence Day in a big way Saturday, March 2, with activities ranging from live music to photo opportunities with a very, very tall cowboy.

Texas Independence Day honors the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836.

The museum, at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, The Woodlands, Texas, 77381, will present a performance by the Tall Texan cowboy, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; country music for children by Prelude, noon-12:45 p.m.; and photo opportunities with Wells Fargo’s famous stagecoach 10 a.m.-noon.

Author Cherie Foster Colburn will read her book, “Bloomin’ Tales: Legends of Seven Favorite Texas Wildflowers,” at 11 a.m. The reading will be followed by a meet-and-greet until 12:30 p.m. when Colburn will sell and sign copies of her book ($20, payable by cash, all major credit cards and checks to Cherie Foster Colburn). Children also will have an opportunity to create plantable bookmarks decorated with wildflower seeds.

Little visitors also can create a special Texas-themed art project in The Muse, the museum’s art bar, and pose for photos with the Tall Texan 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

“Our celebration is an excellent opportunity for families to share Texas’ unique history, to experience the Lone Star State’s dynamic culture and, of course, to have a great deal of fun together,” Executive Director Angela Colton said.

The Texas Independence Day celebration is included in the museum’s regular $7 admission for visitors age 1 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

To ensure a fun, safe experience for visitors, museum admissions will be limited.
