The Woodlands Celebration Of Excellence Gala Now Hero Nominations

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala will be held on Saturday, October 5th at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. This year’s event will commemorate 20 years of honoring our community’s Hometown Heroes.

George P. Mitchell inducted the first class of Hometown Heroes in 1999, as part of The Woodlands’ 25th Anniversary celebration. Since this time, 130 individuals, businesses, institutions and non-profit organizations have received this honor, made possible through the generosity of The Woodlands Development Company, now part of The Howard Hughes Corporation. Hometown Heroes nominees reside within The Woodlands and have rooted themselves in the community. “Much of the growth in The Woodlands can be attributed to our Hometown Heroes. They have led the way in fostering community ties and have spearheaded smart, sustainable changes for good throughout the Township,” remarked Missy Herndon, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “The Gala is a wonderful opportunity to recognize their contributions to our beloved hometown, while also raising much needed funds for Interfaith of The Woodlands, allowing us to continue Mr. Mitchell’s vision of building a more loving a caring community through service.”

Together with Interfaith’s Board of Directors, DeAnn Guidry, Gala Chairperson, will lead a dynamic committee to plan a celebration themed “20 Years of Heroes.” Featuring past honorees, the evening will also include lively entertainment and a poignant induction ceremony for the newest class of Hometown Heroes.

Award nominations will be accepted through 5 pm on Friday, May 31st. The form, including nomination criteria, along with further event details, can be found online at hometownheroesgala.org.
