It was “Kid Chris and the Phoenix” show Thursday night at W.W. Thorne Stadium in Aldine as Conroe quarterback Christian Pack and Michael Phoenix combined for four touchdown passes, three of which accounted for 185 total yards.

Tigers defeat Aldine Davis 42-21 Thursday night

The Pack-Phoenix combination struck early on their second possession of the game as Phoenix caught a 64 yard bomb from Pack as he rolled out under pressure. Phoenix had a step on Davis safety Jamel Thomas when he caught the ball near the Davis 30 yard line.

Phoenix running into the end zone would be a recurring theme throughout the night.

“Me and Christian are like clock work,” said Phoenix, who now has 6 touchdown catches in two games.

“We rep all the time at practice, so it’s nothing new to me. I watched a lot of film this week on Davis, I had a good feeling tonight.”

Pack would add a rushing touchdown to his four scoring passes and would end up with 290 yards passing and 127 yards rushing. His eight touchdown passes lead district 15-6A and he has yet to throw an interception.

The Tigers now take on a hard nosed College Park team next Friday at Woodforest Stadium, a game that could have playoff implications later this season.

Tiger head coach Cedric Hardeman was pleased with the win Friday night, but knows the district season begins next week.

“We have to come to work,” said Hardeman.

“I challenged them this week, the kids stepped up but there are still some things technically we have to get better at. We have to play a lot cleaner, we didn’t play clean tonight. We’ll get to work tomorrow and get everything cleaned up.”

The Tigers will look to avenge their loss to College Park last season when the Cavaliers took a close contest 35-28. The game will be played Friday night at Woodforest Stadium and can be viewed On-Demand at WoodandsOnline.com.
