MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Breast Cancer Awareness Month began on October 1st and runs through October 31st. Sheriff Rand Henderson and members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will help support breast cancer survivors and the fighters of the disease by wearing pink badges during the month of October. These “pink badges” were paid for personally by the individual deputy who wears the badge for a family member or friend who has battled cancer.

By doing this, not only can we show our support, but we can make a donation in hopes of helping someone in need. A portion of the proceeds from the badges will be donated to The National Breast Cancer Foundation whose mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.

To some of our employees it is personal- cancer has attacked them, a sister, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, or a dear friend. When you see the outward display of support and compassion by our men and women, know “compassion” is one of our core values that we strive for every day. At the end of the month, some of our deputies will present the badge worn to a family member or friend as a symbol of support.

In an effort to support the fight locally, members of the Sheriff’s Office as well as the public are encouraged to donate to a cancer charity. This year the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with local charity, iGOPink in their efforts in the fight against breast cancer.

Sheriff Rand Henderson states, “In Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we are proud to partner with iGoPink and The National Breast Cancer Foundation in raising awareness about breast cancer. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is doing our part to honor those who have passed and those who continue their battle against breast cancer. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Employees are proud to be involved in this campaign to raise awareness and education in the fight against breast cancer.”

iGoPink Executive Director Alix Josey states, “iGoPink/The Breast Cancer Charities of America is proud to partner with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for the month of October. We are beyond grateful for their support throughout breast cancer awareness month for our local community. MCSO’s campaign is truly impacting the lives of those who have been affected by breast cancer.”
