THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Jennifer Peyton is taking the lead as the new Program Head for Cooper’s volleyball program, as announced by Director of Athletics John Hoye in a social media statement. Peyton was assistant coach for the 2019 Cooper volleyball season helping Ray Hedden coach the Dragons to a second-place finish in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) South Zone and a 30-win season.

'I am honored and excited to have been chosen for this position,” Peyton said. 'My knowledge of the players and their styles from last year will help in the transition and I am eager to get the season started.'

Coach Peyton is no stranger to SPC volleyball. She was the Head Coach at Kinkaid for five seasons, before taking a position at her alma mater, Houston’s St. Agnes Academy. While at Kinkaid, Peyton led the Falcons to a Division 2 Championship. As the coach at St. Agnes, she coached the team to a third-place finish in the TAPPS State Championship.

'I am thrilled to welcome Jennifer as our next leader of the volleyball program,' Hoye said. 'Her background as an established high school and club coach, in addition to her successful college career, make her an excellent fit for our program and school. With her wealth of knowledge, I am excited about the ongoing successes of the program and look forward to continued competitive teams in the years to come.'

The John Cooper School enters the 2020 season with consistent SPC tournament appearances and at least 20 victories. The Dragons return four starters from the 2019 team including All-SPC player, A.J. Harrell ’21, Rivers Kolesar ’23, Lauren Weatherford ’22 and Lauren Wolford ’23.
