MCTX Sheriff Arrest Male on Multiple Burglaries

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On July 13, 2021, Deputies assigned to the West Precinct, District Four, were conducting a follow-up investigation from a Burglary of a Habitation and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle which had occurred the previous day. Deputies had identified a suspect and his vehicle and went to his residence to interview him. Upon arriving at the residence, the suspect ran out of the residence and attempted to evade on foot.

The suspect, 29-year-old Darrek Hayes was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Deputies continued their investigation, at which time they located several stolen items taken from other burglaries as well as methamphetamine.

Hayes was transported to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Jail where he was charged with Burglary of Habitation, Evading, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, Burglary of a Building, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office commends these Patrol Deputies for their diligent work and dedicated effort to reduce crime and the fear of crime in their assigned areas
