Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Makes Arrest in Splendora Homicide

SPLENDORA, TX -- On Tuesday, April 4, 2022, Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit charged Jacob Otis Cavanaugh, a 40-year-old white male from Goodrich, Texas, for the murder of Holly Vines that occurred on March 16, 2022, in Splendora, Texas. Cavanaugh was booked into the Montgomery County Jail after the date of the homicide for a Robbery that occurred on March 15, 2022, and was being held on a $100,000 bond.

Cavanaugh was charged with the murder of Holly Vines, with whom he had a relationship, when physical evidence found during the investigation, and statements he made after her murder implicated him as the shooter. In addition to the Robbery charge, Cavanaugh is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a 'No Bond' for the murder of Holly Vines.
