The Howard Hughes Corporation Sponsors Interfaith Community Clinic’s “Dental Day” Program
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Interfaith Community Clinic (ICC), the only charity clinic serving all of Montgomery County, received $30,000 in sponsorship from The Howard Hughes CorporationÒ to host a “Dental Day” every week, for the last six months of the year. This partnership will enable the clinic to provide vital dental care to uninsured neighbors who would otherwise not have access to dental care. This collaboration will facilitate the expansion of the program, allowing an additional 12 patients to be served each week resulting in 312 patients additionally served thanks to The Howard Hughes CorporationÒ.
“For nearly 30 years now, Interfaith Community Clinic has been providing healthcare services to our neighbors in need, “said Jim Carman, President, Houston Region for The Howard Hughes CorporationÒ. “We appreciate all that the Clinic does and are pleased to support the creation of a Howard Hughes Dental Day through our HHCares philanthropic initiative.”
The demand for affordable or no-cost dental options among our neighbors living in poverty is substantial. While the ICC frequently collaborates with the two Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers to provide low-cost services to patients, it is the only charitable clinic available in Montgomery County. Before the pandemic, the Clinic's Dental program flourished with the support of volunteer dental professionals. However, in the aftermath of the pandemic, the availability of providers has significantly decreased, resulting in extensive waitlists and limited options for individuals in need of urgent or preventive dental care. Additionally, the program benefits from the contributions of volunteer dentists and dental professionals and dental hygienist students, in addition to the on-staff dentist, Dr. Garza. Interfaith Community Clinic currently has a waitlist of 14 days for dental treatment among its existing patients, and 3-4 weeks for hygiene services.
'The need in our county for charitable dental services is great. We are incredibly grateful to The Howard Hughes CorporationÒ for stepping up as our very first corporate-sponsored, “Dental Day” to expand our capacity to serve our neighbors in need. Their generous contribution will make a profound difference in the lives of uninsured Montgomery County residents who would otherwise not have access to vital dental care,” said Missy Herndon, President and CEO of Interfaith Community Clinic. “We thank Howard Hughes CorporationÒ for leading the way, and we hope other local corporate supporters will join their efforts,” Herndon continued.
