CONROE, TX -- On October 25, 2023, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office East Precinct were dispatched to the 16000 block of Highway 105 East in reference to a theft of property call, including the theft of an entire storage container. After an investigation, East Precinct Detectives were able to locate the storage container and identify a suspect.

On November 1, 2023, East Precinct deputies and detectives observed the suspect traveling with the stolen items and a pursuit of the suspect ensued. The suspect abandoned his vehicle and continued to flee deputies on foot. The suspect was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody. During the investigation the suspect was found in possession of five firearms. As a convicted felon, currently on parole and out on bail for an unrelated felony charge, this results in an additional charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Multiple stolen vehicles were recovered from the suspect’s property and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Auto Theft Task Force continues to investigate those stolen vehicles.

Thomas Henderson Courtney (47), of New Caney, is currently in the Montgomery County Jail with no bond. Courtney is charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. This investigation continues and additional charges may be pending.
