HS Softball Playoffs: Lady War Eagles Prepare for Vaunted Regional Semifinals Matchup with Rockwall
OAK RIDGE NORTH, TX -- The District Co-Champion Lady War Eagles continue their warpath through the playoffs with their 15-1 victory over Klein Collins on Thursday. The win also keeps Oak Ridge as the sole representative of 13-6A going into the Regional Semis.
Coach Stephani Rougeau’s squad has stayed at the top of their game since the beginning of the playoffs, winning their games by an average of 8.6 runs.
The run differential was heavily swayed due to the team’s recent 15-1 shellacking of Klein Collins to claim a Regional Quarterfinal win.
Oak Ridge’s impressive victory means the team is situated perfectly for a shot at the Regional Final should they overcome their next opponent, the Rockwall Lady Yellowjackets.
Rockwall’s run of 28-7-1 through the regular season has given the team a top 15 ranking in the state according to MaxPreps. Their push was aided by a perfect run through of District 10-6A that culminated in a Championship.
Central Texas’ stranglehold on the 6A playoff structure still holds strong, but the Lady War Eagles have proven their worth as a more than capable squad come crunch time.
The out-of-district run for the Lady War Eagles saw the team topple tough opponents regularly before a couple of losses left the team with a 31-4 overall record.
Their season now rests on the team’s ability to face down a tough Rockwall squad and overcome notions of an “underdog” defeating a higher-ranked opponent.
The Lady War Eagles will give all they have starting Thursday at 6:30 at Georgetown High School.
