HS Softball: Grand Oaks Wins Battle of the Oaks Against Oak Ridge

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles hosted the Grand Oaks Grizzlies in the first series of the Battle of the Oaks Friday night.

It was a battle of pitchers the whole game as Grand Oaks and Oak Ridge tried to get runners past home plate. Grand Oaks was able to accomplish this in the top of the third but it wasn’t until the top of the sixth when another runner would pass the plate.

The defensive battle between the two teams would intensify throughout the game as each pitcher try not to give up any hits. In the top of the seventh, Grand Oaks hit their final runner in to win the game 3-0 and take the first series of the Battle of the Oaks.

Paula Miller, new head coach for Grand Oaks, expanded on how she is learning her new team, “We’ve had our challenges getting to know each other but the kids have really responded to the [coaching] style I bring and its been a lot of fun getting to know them and learning the new team.”
