The Woodlands Arts Council announces inaugural Art Matters Series & Workshop event

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Arts Council recently announced that it will hold its inaugural Art Matters Series & Workshop event on June 29. The series is presented in conjunction with the council’s celebratory ‘Golden Vision’ exhibition. The admission ticket price of $30 includes lunch, with the workshop being an additional $60 with all materials provided.

“Through Art Matters, we hope to amplify artistic voices in our community while also providing a chance for participants to expand their knowledge and experience of art. We hope you will come and spend the day with us because art matters!” said council representatives in a statement.

The event includes:

Artist Talk with Ginette Mailloux – A presentation of a newspaper-based art project, the personal positive impact of this work, and the power of transformation.

Panel Discussion: Finding Space & Time for Creativity – A collaborative discussion featuring four artists with differing disciplines, age groups, and time constraints on how to schedule creativity with demanding lifestyles.

‘Doodle Art Demo – The 2024 Woodlands Waterway Art Festival emerging artist Jeff Lung will share his process and approach to the interesting world of mark-making.

Oils Demonstration – Traditional oil painter Tom LaRock demonstrates his process in producing a realistic oil painting using the layering (indirect) approach. This demonstration includes the introduction of the Munsell Color System.

The ticket price of $30 includes all these series presentations and lunch. For an additional $60, attendees can attend the Art Matters Series Workshop. Explore the painting technique with soft pastels led by award-winning artist Carolina Dalmas. In this 2.5-hour workshop, follow Carolina's step-by-step guidance to create a vibrant and expressive flower arrangement. All supplies provided.
