Dr. Ashrita Hanmiah joining our TWIHW Family starting January 2026!

Dr. Ashrita Hanmiah is originally from Buffalo, New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Canisius College, majoring in French with minors in Biology and Gender Studies, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Global Health and Development from University College London in the United Kingdom. She received her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University and, during this time, also completed an MBA in Healthcare Management.

She then completed her family medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center. In primary care, Dr. Hanmiah saw not only how difficult it can be for patients to achieve lasting health, but also how many diseases and chronic ailments remain refractory to standard treatments when their root causes are not fully addressed. This motivated her to transition into functional medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Hanmiah enjoys exploring different ethnic cuisines, discovering new cafes, spending time outdoors, and adding new destinations to her travel bucket list.
