THE WOODLANDS, Texas--When a team finishes 4-6 and doesn’t qualify for the playoffs, fans seem to get down on their team and start to lose hope in the team’s next few seasons. For the Oak Ridge War Eagles, the cornerstones came into their own last season as juniors.

Quarterback Bishop Durst and Wide Receiver Tanner Lacy made some big steps last season and were hidden gems within the War Eagles 4-6 record.

Durst was very solid last season for the War Eagles as he threw for over 750 yards and 8 touchdowns while playing in all 10 games last season. Durst will also have receiver Darrius Jelks along side Lacy. The duo of Lacy and Jelks combined for exactly 500 yards and 6 touchdowns last season.

The 6’1 160lb Lacy will also be looking to build on a solid 2016 season. Lacy turned into a vital red zone threat for Durst last year, and his speed combined with his height should be a combination that gives secondaries in the area nightmares.

There are a couple unknowns on the War Eagles offense going into their first game against Pearland on August 31st. Durst will be without his running back from last season Jimmie Moore IV and other star wide receiver Kyle Townsend.

For Oak Ridge to thrive this year Bishop Durst will be looking to utilize Tanner Lacy who also will be looking to have that statement season that Head Coach Dereck Rush knows that this dynamic duo has the potential to have.
