THE WOODLANDS, Texas---From beautiful Conroe, Texas the Oak Ridge War Eagles went head to head with the Klein Forest Eagles.

On the opening kickoff the War Eagles would waste no time putting points on the board. Senior Defensive Back Zavier Johnson would return the opening kickoff for a touchdown to give Bishop Durst and this War Eagles team a 7-0 cushion to start the game.

On the Eagles very first possession the Eagles would return the favor, as Klein Forest Quarterback Chad Heggar would throw a touchdown to Receiver Auhmad Robinson to knot the game up at 7 a piece. As the first quarter would wind down, Oak Ridge would allow Eagle’s Wide Receiver to return the punt almost 40 yards into the end zone to put Klein Forest up 14-7.

On the possession immediately following the punt return for a touchdown, War Eagles Running Back Kendrick Johnson took a carry 69-yard handoff to the house and we would be all tied up. That would do it for the 1st quarter. A quarter that would be filled with penalties and up and down special teams play for the War Eagles.

To open up the 2nd quarter the War Eagles defense came up with the huge play that the War Eagles would hope could give this team a boost, but unfortunately Oak Ridge would come away with nothing as they would go 3 and out. Later on in the 2nd quarter, War Eagles Quarterback Bishop Durst would throw a deep ball in the back of the end zone that would be intercepted and downed in the end zone for a touchback.

The next few possessions for both teams would be defensive stops, until with 1:13 left, Sophomore Running Back Nick McCants would run it in for another War Eagles touchdown. After some back and forth defensive stops for both teams, the half would come to a close with Oak Ridge on top 21-14.

The Eagles would receive the ball to start the 2nd half and we would be underway. The War Eagles would get a turnover by the Eagles and would capitalize with a field goal from Kicker Parker Venema. Joseph Ossai, the Woodlands Online player of the game, and Oak Ridge’s defense would continue to fly around the field and get to Quarterback Hagger.

The War Eagles would continue to pour it on as Durst would complete a beautiful 63-yard pass to Wide Receiver Darrius Jelks for a War Eagle touchdown to extend Oak Ridge’s lead to 31-14. Oak Ridge would continue to make plays throughout the final quarter and force turnovers.

The War Eagles offense would continue to assert their dominance on this Eagle defense. Running Back Nick McCants would continue to add on points Oak Ridge. The new score would be 45-14. Oak Ridge would continue to dominate the Eagles and your final from Woodforest Stadium would be 45-14.

Simply put, the War Eagles put on a clinic in the 2nd half. The offense was surely rusty in the 1st half and with this being their first game of the season it’s was definitely understandable. But when the quarter maker turned over to the 3rd, the War Eagles kicked it into gear.

Here's what Head Coach Derrick Rush had to say after the game.

Oak Ridge’s next contest will be against a solid Deer Park team on September 22nd in Deer Park.
