THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands College Park High School squared off with Aldine MacArthur Generals. For the Cavaliers, they look to turn doubters into believers. College Park picked up the win at Woodforest Bank Stadium against the MacArthur Generals to start their season 2-0. The search for perfection will continue for the Cavaliers as they were unable to grab more than two victories last season finishing 1-9.

With a couple early runs QuaJon Charles asserted himself in the first quarter as an offensive threat. The Woodlands Cavaliers offensive line pushed until the offense landed at the 20-yard line. Senior quarterback Jake Hunnicutt rolled out to the left side, on a boot action and threw a laser to Tyler Givens making it 7-0 Cavaliers.

QuaJon Charles and duo Aaron Randle looked to continue their success in the first quarter by running down the Generals defense. With a two-step move behind Texas A&M Commit Joshua Bankhead, running back QuaJon Charles pushed through the MacArthur Generals end zone, making the score 14-0 Cavaliers.

Following the Cavaliers touchdown, the Generals continued to stick to their plan of airing it out. With a few more tackles and swats from outside linebacker Casen Holden, the defense seemed ready to get back on the field.

Jake Hunnicutt and his Cavaliers drove up and down the field with help from star running back QuaJon Charles. Lonnie Madison and his offense slowly grounded five yards at a time, until finally getting in the end zone for Charles second score coming off a 3-yard run, to make the score 21-0 College Park Cavaliers.

Defensive back Caleb Crawford and Brooks Halsey helped the defense by leading the way in tackles and shutting down the offense of The MacArthur Generals. Charles credited his lineman for the success in the running game. With 42-seconds remaining QuaJon Charles took an inside run at the Generals 20-yard line. Being so close to the end zone, quarterback Jake Hunnicutt threw an 11-yard pass to Carson Nolan for a touchdown to make the score 28-0 Cavaliers with the quarter coming to an end.

The runaway train seemed to be a theme in the stadium, and with the Cavs offensive line dominating the game, the Generals needed to make a huge adjustment ; with 8 minutes left on the clock.

Quarterback Joey Guzman for the Generals continued to do what wasn’t working in the first two quarters, and that was airing it out. Throwing a laser over two Cavalier defensive backs, junior wide receiver Joshua Eaton made a considerable leap and jumped over two Cavaliers making the score 28-7. In the third quarter with four minutes the Cavaliers seemed complacent with running, so they spiced it up. Throwing up and down the field, Jake Hunnicutt masterly commanded his offense into the enemies 5-yard line. Jake Hunnicutt darted forward after a three-step drop and jumped into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown to put the score at 35-14 Cavaliers.

With no scores coming in the third, the action picked up dramatically in the fourth. With ten minutes left in the ball game, Romelle Marks began getting handoff after handoff until he tumbled all the way into Cavalier territory. In the final moments for the Generals, Romelle Marks fell into the Cavs end zone for an 8-yard touchdown, moving the score to 35-14.

Coach Lonnie Madison pulled the NFL theory in the fourth quarter by benching his starters at the end of the game. Opening the door for the only three varsity sophomores to get playing time, Cavalier running back Alex Leal took a 1-yard run in the red zone run into a touchdown making it 42-14.

With it being under a minute, the Generals offense walked on the turf for the last time. Forty seconds left in the fourth quarter and the General offense clawed their way to College Park side. The MacArthur quarterback Julian Alvarez threw a 3-yard pass to Armando Ordenana for a Generals touchdown, concluding the game to 42-20.

The Woodlands College Park Cavaliers came out victorious again. Starting the season 2-0, the Cavaliers already achieved more wins than the last seasons 1-9, this could be the year The Woodlands College Park breaks the hump and tops the division to become the top dogs in the CISD.

Running backs Aaron Randle and QuaJon Charles backfield duo, unofficially went for 105 yards on 15 carries, while Charles racked up 141 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Quarterback Jake Hunnicutt went 11-for-13 for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
