Spring BreaKation at The Woodlands Children’s Museum
THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Families can choose from a large selection of activities—from a musical instrument petting zoo to special workshops—March 11-16 during Spring BreaKation at The Woodlands Children’s Museum.
“We’ve designed Spring BreaKation to offer families an eclectic mix of programs,” Executive Director Angela Colton said. “We encourage visitors to delight in our special performances and to delve into our interactive learning opportunities. But we also hope that little ones and their families will relax and play together here, which is an equally valuable use of their time.”
The museum, at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, The Woodlands, Texas, 77381, will present the following events during its Spring BreaKation:
Monday, March 11: Princess Merida from “Brave,” dressed in her famous Scottish attire, will read for 20 minutes at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 and 2 p.m. After each reading there will be a photo opportunity.
Tuesday, March 12: Tom’s Fun Band, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; children’s entertainer Andy Roo, 1:30-3:30 p.m.; Safety Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Wednesday, March 13: Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Crazy About Critters with TGR Exotics at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday, March 14: Monty the Magician, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 and 2 p.m.
Friday, March 15: Irish dancers, 10:45 a.m., noon, and 1 and 2 p.m.
Saturday, March 16: Irish dancers, 11 and 11:45 a.m., and 12:30 and 2 p.m.
Families are reminded that performances and costumed character appearances are subject to time variations and cancellations. While the museum goes to great lengths to make sure these events take place according to schedule, circumstances outside of the staff’s control can occur.

During Safety Day on March 12, The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch will present Safety Day and “The Friendly Fighter.” The Woodlands Fire Department will be at the museum 10 a.m.-noon, and there will be a “Friendly Fireman” demonstration at 10:45 and 11:45 a.m. Throughout Safety Day, families can check out information from Montgomery County Health Department, along with an ambulance and the Safe Kids Car Safety presentation.
Another Spring BreaKation activity will be Science Palooza (March 9-16), when children can engage in interactive science experiments such as “Dissolving Ink” and “Dancing Raisins.” The museum will utilize kits provided by the National Informal STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education network.
This year’s Spring BreaKation workshops include the brand-new Just Add Beats sessions Monday-Friday, March 11-15. During “STEAM Learning With Audio,” 9 a.m.-noon, students ages 9-11 role play as creative audio agencies, record original songs and stories and solve real-world audio challenges.
Just Add Beats’ “Design Thinking and Career Education With Audio” session, 1-4 p.m., helps students 12-14 gain media literacy through hands-on audio design challenges. At the end of each Just Add Beats workshop, students can take home a copy of their high-quality, original audio works.
Additional Spring BreaKation programming includes Discovery Workshops for 4-year-olds Monday-Thursday, March 11-14, along with Creative Workshops for children ages 5-8 Monday-Friday, March 11-15.
The Spring BreaKation performances, Science Palooza and Safety Day activities are included in the museum’s $7 admission for visitors age 1 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
