HS Softball Playoffs: CISD teams go 3-0 on night one
THE WOODLANDS, TX --
The Woodlands 26, Dekaney 1 (Game 1)
The Highlanders turned 29 hits into 26 runs, including 12 in the first inning. They held the Wildcats to just one run on five hits. Simply put, The Woodlands laid the smackdown on Thursday night.
Alannah Leach, Gabby Leach, and Kayla Falterman were the hit leaders with four apiece. Alannah and Gabby were a perfect 4-4 at the plate, while Falterman led the team in RBIs with five.
Saylor Davis got the start for The Woodlands and kept Dekaney hitless for three inning and struck out seven before being replaced by Bri Dickson. Dickson allowed one run on five hits and struck out four batters.
The Woodlands will travel to Dekaney on Friday with a 1-0 lead in the series and a chance to advance to the area round. The game is currently scheduled for 6 p.m.
Oak Ridge 13, Eisenhower 0 (Game 1)
Both teams put up zeros in the first two innings, then the War Eagles offense woke up and scored 13 runs over the next three innings to get the Game 1 win.
Morgan Dutton was 3-4 on the night with two RBIs and a home run. Erika Flynn earned the win in five innings, striking out 12 batters in the shutout.
Oak Ridge will host Game 2 on Friday, currently scheduled for 5 p.m. With a win, the War Eagles will advance to the area round.
Grand Oaks 8, Spring 2 (Game 1)
The Grizzlies recorded 11 hits to take a 1-0 series lead at home on Thursday night. Morgan Yeagar was the leading hitter, going 3-4 in the win.
Kourtney Bellinger picked up the win from the pitcher’s circle with a complete game. Bellinger allowed one earned run on five hits and struck out 11 batters.
Grand Oaks takes their 1-0 series lead to Spring with a chance to close out the series. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday.
