THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands and Klein Collins both won on their home field so they played at Grand Oaks, a neutral site, for their third and final game on Saturday afternoon. It was hot but the cloud cover kept it cool at times as the teams hit the field for their matchup.

The Woodlands would pop off to a quick start in the bottom of the first with two runners batted in giving them a 2-0 lead before getting retired by Klein Collins pitcher, Savannah Carter.

In the top of the third, it was Klein Collins turn to light up the field. They would start off with two RBIs to tie the game up, but they weren’t finished. Daniela Gutierrez and Mia Quiroga would bring in three more before Chesney Davis could retire the side. Klein Collins would take the lead 5-2 heading into the fourth.

The next inning was like the last, as Klein Collins rallied to increase their lead against The Woodlands. Savannah Carter, Ari Garcia and once again Mia Quiroga would bat in four more runners to increase their lead 9-2.

Saylor Davis would enter as a relief pitcher for The Woodlands in hopes to close out the game. She wouldn’t allow anymore runners to cross over the plate in the fifth and sixth inning.

The Woodlands would get hot in the bottom of the sixth as Alannah Leach and Kiara Wiedenhaupt would bring in two runners in an attempt to chip away at the Klein Collins’ lead.

In the final inning, Daniela Gutierrez with Klein Collins would hit a tank out of center field and bring one along with her. Their lead would increase 11-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Woodlands would try once again to chip away at the lead but fell short “only” bringing in three more. Klein Collins would win the series and take the Area round with an 11-7 win over The Woodlands.
