The Woodlands Arts Council announces 2024 Student Art Scholarship winners

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Arts Council has announced its latest round of scholarship winners thanks to its annual Student Art Scholarship program, now in its nineteenth year.

For 2024, 17 students were awarded a total of $49,800. They submitted portfolios of 2D, 3D, and literary works of art for judging and an interview process. Images of their work have been compiled into the Student Art Anthology Volume II, which will be available for purchase at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival Market. Proceeds will benefit next year’s Student Art Scholarships.

Submissions for 3D art included Sculpture, Jewelry, Glass, Ceramics, Small Metals, Mixed Media, Fibers, 3-D prints, and Animation, under the genres of Functional and Non-functional. Submissions for 2D art included Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Ink, Photo, and Digital, under the genres of Realism and Abstract. Submissions for literary art included Short Fiction, Short Non-Fiction, and Poetry.

One of the awards, The Susan, was named and established in honor of Susan Vreeland-Wendt for her incredible years of service as a volunteer, board member and art lover at The Woodlands Arts Council.

Awarded students, parents, and teachers have been invited to celebrate the anthology on April 4, 2024, at the TWAC office.
