Rain may have put a damper on the Labor Day fireworks celebrations, but this week the precipitation should be light and late enough to not affect our lives too significantly.

Throughout our post-Labor Day Tuesday, the clouds will steadily increase as the mercury heads up through the 80s to settle around 92 for a high; the accompanying humidity will add about seven degrees to the feels-like temperature. As the pressure eases, we’ll see some afternoon and evening spikes in rain, but nothing to issue a weather or flood alert over.

Overnight into Wednesday, the clouds will remain and maybe also the occasional raindrop, but otherwise a still night will help lull you. The new moon means a dark night. But the grey will continue even after sunrise Wednesday. While the mercury won’t get out of the 80s, the heat index will make the high of 89 feel like 97. Once again, we should see some afternoon and evening showers, but only about a tenth of an inch’s worth.

Going into Thursday, the rains may abate a tad but not go completely away, and come daytime the chances of getting wet go up with each passing minute, as thunderstorms brew and dump about a quarter-inch of rain on us throughout the afternoon and evening. The cool front will keep both the high temp and the heat index in the 80s.

Sometime during the night into Friday, with our third night in a row with a low in the mid 70s, the rains will taper off as the pressure hits rock bottom and starts rising. Which leads us to a much drier and brighter Friday, with morning clouds and afternoon sun, with a moderate high temp of 88.

As the weekend approaches, prepare for sunny days in the 80s…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
