Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough today announced on his official social media his intention to run for a third term as head of Commissioners Court. In a statement on his Facebook page, Keough wrote:

Friends, neighbors, and citizens of Montgomery County—

After careful consideration, prayer, and conversations with my family and supporters, I am officially announcing my candidacy for a third term as your Montgomery County Judge.

Serving this great county over the past 7 years has been the honor of my life. Together, we’ve faced unprecedented challenges—and through it all, we’ve stood firm in our values, kept government accountable, and protected what makes Montgomery County strong: our people, our families, and our way of life.

Over the past two terms, I have strived to lead with a commitment to conservative principles: fiscal responsibility, limited government, law and order, and personal freedom. Some of the accomplishments we have achieved together include:

* Balanced the county budgets while lowering the property tax rate 20%.
* Reduced county debt while investing in infrastructure and public safety initiatives.
* Led disaster response during multiple unprecedented disasters, while strengthening recovery efforts to ensure Montgomery County and our residents are back to normal quickly and efficiently.
* Supported law enforcement and expanded resources for public safety at all levels.
* Protected parental rights
* Championed government transparency and ethics.
* Stood against both state and federal overreach.
* Prioritized transportation improvements and economic development.

I believe Montgomery County is the model for conservative leadership in Texas—and I’m not done yet.

Looking ahead, a third term will allow us to continue building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Montgomery County. We’ll stay on course with enhanced infrastructure, support for law enforcement, and fiscal discipline. I will continue fighting for the values we hold dear—faith, freedom, family, and a government that works for the people, not the other way around.

I’m running for re-election because the work is not finished. With your support, we will preserve what we’ve built and take Montgomery County to even greater heights.

Let’s keep Montgomery County strong, conservative, and thriving.

God bless you all—and thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me

I look forward to my continued service to Montgomery County, the best in Texas!

Countywide elections, as well as Woodlands Township elections, will take place November 4 of this year. November 2026 will include the midterm elections. Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for election coverage as it occurs.
