South Texas Fall Showdown: A New Tradition Begins in Sienna, TX

This November marked an exciting milestone for youth sports in Fort Bend County as Sienna, Texas proudly hosted the 1st Annual South Texas Fall Showdown, a 5v5 and 7v7 soccer tournament held in partnership with SPLID (Sienna Parks & Levee Improvement District). The event brought families, athletes, and the community together in a vibrant, high-energy weekend that exceeded every expectation.

With more than 50 teams competing across boys and girls divisions from U8 to U10, the Showdown brought together clubs and athletes from across the region in a fun, fast-paced format. The event took place the weekend before Thanksgiving break, perfect timing for families to enjoy some competitive fun before the holiday season kicked off.

A Weekend of Fun, Competition, and Community
Players competed across beautifully maintained grass fields on SPLID facilities. The energy and excitement was nonstop from the first whistle to the last as teams showcased skill, teamwork, and determination. With over 1,500 people in attendance - players, families, coaches, and spectators—the atmosphere was festive, welcoming and full of community spirit.

The Start of a New Sienna Tradition
The 1st Annual South Texas Fall Showdown set a strong foundation for what will undoubtedly become a marquee event for youth soccer in the region. With competitive play, community connection, and top-tier facilities, this year’s tournament showed what’s possible when local organizations align and work together.

We’re already looking forward to next year as the Fall Showdown grows, evolves, and continues bringing the soccer community together in Sienna. A huge thank you to all the players, families, volunteers, referees, sponsors, and supporters for making the inaugural event truly special. 

“Through our partnership with SPLID (Sienna Parks & Levee Improvement District) HTX Soccer has the necessary resources and facilities to help make this event a tremendous success,” said Sam Buckman, Sienna Recreational Director.

“Starting to host events like this throughout the year supports two of our core goals, offering competitive opportunities for player development and creating a positive economic impact on the local community. It’s a win-win for everyone involved," said Stuart Taylor, Tournament Director.
