THE WOODLANDS, TX - The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) advises that a new contractor will be installing an odor control system on Wednesday, December 4 at the sewage treatment plant on Sawdust Road. The previous contractor for odor control is in the process of dismantling their odor control equipment. Please be advised that until Wednesday afternoon, there is the potential for odors from the treatment facility for areas of Grogan’s Mill near the plant. SJRA does not have any non-routine work planned over this timeframe in order to limit the potential for odor release.

However, in the event of an odor release, SJRA advises to use the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) odor reporting form. The link to the odor reporting log is as follows: https://www.tceq.texas.gov/assets/public/compliance/odor-log-public.pdf
Be sure to complete all the requested information and include an estimate of wind speed in addition to the direction the wind is blowing from. Wind speed can be estimated with indicators on the following links: http://www.gilbertazwx.com/images/wind.pdf or https://www.weather.gov/ilx/swopwindscale

The odor log should be submitted to the TCEQ, cmplaint@tceq.texas.gov. Please also email a copy to Chris Meeks, Woodlands Division Manager, SJRA. His email address is cmeeks@sjra.net. This information will help SJRA locate odor sources at the plant.
