Andritsos’ Grand Slam, Complete-Game key Highlanders win over Kingwood

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Highlanders got back on the winning track, due to a grand slam and strong starting pitching performance from Chris Andritsos, en route to a 9-1 district home win over Kingwood on Tuesday night.

Andritsos hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring four of the Highlanders seven runs in the frame to take a commanding lead. Andritsos also went the complete game on the mound, giving up just three hits and one earned run, while walking two and striking out six to the 31 total batters he faced over the length of the game.

The Woodlands (9-9-1, 3-3) will continue district play at home against Conroe on Friday, April 10, at 7pm.

War Eagles soar past Summer Creek

CONROE, Texas - The Oak Ridge War Eagles got a three-RBI performance from Tyler Hicks to go along with a shutout performance on the mound from Luken Baker in a 10-0 home district win in five innings over Summer Creek on Tuesday night.

Hicks keyed the War Eagles offense by going 2-for-2 at the plate including a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to give Oak Ridge a 3-0 lead.

The lead was more than enough for Luken Baker, who went the complete game, allowed just three hits while striking out five in the shutout performance.

Oak Ridge is alone in first place in District 16-6A, one game ahead of College Park and will continue district play on Friday, April 10, at 7pm, when they host Kingwood.

College Park rolls in district win over Conroe

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - College Park got three RBI’s from Nate Fisbeck and two RBI’s each from Roosevelt Henderson and Chandler Morris en route to a 12-2 commanding victory over Conroe in five innings on Tuesday night.

The Cavaliers failed to score in just one of the five innings as collectively they went 11-for-23 at the plate on the evening with six different Cavaliers totaling 10 RBI’s for College Park.

College Park got another strong pitching performance from Texas-commit Beau Ridgeway, as he went the distance allowing just four hits and two earned runs, while striking out four.

College Park looks to continue to put pressure on first-place Oak Ridge when they host Atascocita in district play on Friday, April 10, at 7pm.
