Being prepared can make all the difference when an emergency strikes. Residents of all ages are invited to attend the ReadyWoodlands Preparedness Event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free community event is designed to help families create a personalized plan to stay safe before, during and
after an emergency.

The ReadyWoodlands event will provide practical information on preparing for hurricanes and other emergency situations along with awareness of resources available from local organizations and agencies. Attendees can participate in hands-on workshops covering lifesaving skills such as CPR, proper fire extinguisher use and other essential safety practices.

Presentations will be offered throughout the event. Presenting Sponsor, CenterPoint Energy, will offer insight into utility preparedness and power restoration procedures following major events. Additional presentation sessions may include guidance on medical directives, understanding your insurance policy and other important preparedness topics.

Families can also enjoy giveaways and door prizes from our sponsors, including a portable generator generously donated by Lowe’s of The Woodlands.

Activities for the kids too!

This event is a great opportunity to help our younger residents understand their role in emergency preparedness – all while having fun! Children can take part in hands-on, engaging activities designed to build confidence and awareness, including:
• Create their own first aid kit
• Practice a simulated 9-1-1 call
• Fire safety and Exit Drills in the Home (EDITH) activities
• Meeting special guests Smokey Bear and McGruff the Crime Dog
• Winning a prize by completing a scavenger hunt
• Crafts and more
